Axel Hagelstam
Axel Hagelstam is responsible for matters that concern the Committee on Budgets, the Committee on Security and Defence, the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy, the Committee on Foreign Affairs, the Committee on Budgetary Control, the Committee on Human Rights, the Committee on International Trade, the Committee on Petitions and the Committee on Development. Axel also monitors minority issues and matters regarding the Delegation for relations with Afghanistan. Axel is from Kauniainen and has a master's degree in social science from Åbo Akademi University. His special field is international security policy, and in the past he has worked for the Ministry of Defence and the National Emergency Supply Agency. He was a candidate in the European Parliament election in June 2009.

Mats Löfström
Mats Löfström is responsible for matters that concern the Committee on Fisheries, the Committee on Constitutional Affairs, the Committee on Culture and Education, the Committee on Legal Affairs, the Committee on Environment, Public Health and Food Safety, and the Committee on Regional Development. Mats also has a special area of responsibility with issues regarding the Åland Islands. Mats is from Eckerö and has been studying political science at the University of Helsinki and marketing at Hanken - School of Economics in Helsinki. Mats has earlier been secretary general for Svensk Ungdom - the youth organisation of the Swedish People's Party in Finland and International Officer for the Swedish People's Party.

Heidi Jern
Heidi Jern is responsible for the staff's practical matters as well as contacts with and work in Finland to a large extent. She is also responsible for matters concerning the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs, the temporary committee on the financial and economic crisis, the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs, the Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality, and the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development. Heidi takes care of schedule and calendar matters as well. She was born and grew up in Vaasa. She has a master's degree in social science from Åbo Akademi University, where she has been studying international law and international organisations. Heidi has been active in Svensk Ungdom (youth organisation of the Swedish People's Party in Finland) at the local and national level and has previously worked as an assistant at the Government Secretariat for EU Affairs.

Krista Simberg
Krista Simberg is my local assistant in Finland and works at the Swedish People's Party's Headquarters in Helsinki. Krista is responsible for the contacts to Finland. Krista coordinates my calender and program in Finland, and works with information and communication. Krista is from Ekenäs and has a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Helsinki. Krista has a background in Svensk Ungdom (youth organisation of the Swedish People's Party in Finland), where she has worked as a political secretary. She has also been the chairman for European Youth Parliament's Finnish branch.

Jenny Wolfram (trainee September 2011 - January 2012)
Jenny Wolfram was selected as a trainee for my office in automn 2011. Jenny is from Helsinki and is studying law at the University of Helsinki and economics at Hanken - School of Economics. Thanks to funds supplied by the Swedish Cultural Foundation in Finland, two persons have an opportunity to work as trainees in the European Parliament each year.
